Tras el gesto bruniano hay, por un lado, una idea precisa y fuerte de la Filosofa y del sujeto que la realiza (el Filsofo), idea que Bruno ve y vive como un conflicto radical con la realidad contempornea del filsofo y la filosofa, as como con la inmediata tradicin intelectual en que tanto el uno como la otra se insertan: la cultura cristiana y el lugar que sta les concede. Tras el gesto bruniano est la conviccin de que se inicia una nueva etapa histrica que pone fin a un largo perodo de subversin de valores y del mismo lenguaje que ha tenido en el cristianimo y en su premisa griega (el aristotelismo) su factor desencadenante. Su reivindicacin de la Filosofa se hace mendiante la apelacin directa a lo que, fundamentalmente, haba sido la filosofa en Grecia desde los orgenes hasta la culminacin en Platn y en la tradicin platnica: la va autntica de conocimiento y unin con la divinidad a travs del conocimiento de la realidad, de lo que existe y del conimiento de uno mismo.
