En el presente documento se exponen dos ensayos ligados con el problema de la modernizacin sin lmites tanto en el tiempo como en la imaginacin racionalista y, por ende, con el problema de la normalizacin de la historia, sea o no bajo el aspecto del pretrito utpico. En el primer ensayo, se analiza los lmites de la modernidad respecto de la idea misma de libertad. Dicha idea constituye el basamento ontolgico y epistemolgico que permite fundamentar el camino recorrido hasta ahora por la razn. La razn no es razn si no se deriva, lgica y polticamente, de la idea de libertad. El segundo problema, deriva del anterior, y se refiere al reduccionismo racional de lo econmico y lo social, a la idea de desarrollo. Si bien el pensamiento econmico tiene cierto atraso, el mismo es tomado a crdito como metaexplicativo de las relaciones entre sociedad y naturaleza. No obstante, dicho pensamiento y, con l, la economa real, no se reducen a la mera descripcin de las funciones econmicas y del papel de la economa en los procesos de integracin social sino que, adems, aparece como pensamiento normativo.
