La ville poreuse est n de la rflexion mene par Bernardo Secchi et Paola Vigano sur le Grand Paris et la mtropole de l'aprsKyoto, partir de la mission de recherche et projet lance par la Prsidence de la Rpublique en 2008. L'hypothse des auteurs est que toute mtropole devra, l'avenir, se confronter une 'nouvelle question urbaine' qui se dcline en trois situations de crise, lies la croissance progressive des ingalits sociales, l'accroissement des risques environnementaux et la mobilit au sens large, sur fond d'une crise conomique et politique d'ampleur. Agir sur la structure spatiale de la mtropole et de son imaginaire, garantir une accessibilit gnralise, donner de l'espace l'eau et aux relations biotiques, procder par stratifications pour rduire la consommation d'nergie : ce sont les stratgies fondamentales d'une solution non litaire ces problmes. Une dmarche rigoureuse taye l'hypothse de recherche et de projet, dans une relation trs fconde entre conceptualisation, description, exploration du futur et reprsentation. Un 'vaste programme', mais aussi un projet possible, sont exposs dans ce livre.
