Language and Creativity is an interdisciplinary study in that it draws together insights and arguments from the fields of philosophy, psychology and linguistics. The integrating center of the methodology in this essay is philosophical humanism or a philosophy that centers on man. Philosophy must look beyond itself when trying to understand human being and human nature for these concerns are not the private specialty of one discipline Philosophical humanism focuses directly on examining shallowness if it cannot draw upon the resources and evidence of other disciplines. In this essay, linguistic evidence and theories are central to the argument and thesis that is promoted. Theories of and from psychology are elaborated and contrasted in view of the linguistic questions and evidence that are brought to bear on the question of man. Thus it is implicitly argued in this work that philosophy, linguistics and psychology can not go their separate ways when dealing with the nature of human language and human being. No one of these disciplines has man as its privileged specialty
