Die uberraschend groBe Teilnahme an dieser Tagung demonstrierte das standig zunehmende Interesse an den Problemen der Langzeitbeat mung. Referate, Diskussionen und Demonstrationen umrissen die Aufgaben, die dem Anaesthesisten aus dieser Materie erwuchsen. Er entwickelte sich durch sie zum Kliniker mit eigenem stationarem und risikoreichem Kran kengut. Die Themen der beiden Vortragstage stellten dar, daB fundiertes theo retisches Wissen und groBe praktische Erfahrung erforderlich sind, urn die Moglichkeiten, die durch technische Hilfsmittel geboten werden, aus zuschopfen, die Geriite zur Langzeitbeatmung also am richtigen Objekt, zur richtigen Zeit und in moglichst physiologischer Weise einzusetzen. Den Kollegen anderer Fachgebiete darf versichert werden, daB die Langzeitbeatmung keinen Eingriff in ihren Wirkungskreis darstellt, sondem ein HandinHandArbeiten mit ihnen erfordert, urn den betroffenen Kran ken alle Errungenschaften der neuzeitlichen Medizin zu erschlieBen.
