Neben symbolischen Bezgen darunter fllt auch die hochartifizielle filmimmanente Symbolsprache werden insbesondere die filmtechnischen mittel bercksichtig. Es wird vorgefhrt, dass in Lars von Triers dialektischem Verfahren aus Grenzziehung und Grenzberschreitung eine Bewegung der zunehmenden Irrealisierung festgestellt werden kann und dies zugleich die Grundlage zur Schaffung eines eigenen, neuen Mythos bietet. Entgegen der mehrheitlichen Unterschtzung des Werks innerhalb der Forschung unternimmt der vorliegende Band einen Rettungsversuch, indem er die Bedeutung des Antichrist im Rahmen einer bislang ersten Einzelanalyse des Films fr das Gesamtoeuvre Lars von Triers hervorhebt.
