En los siglos XVIII y XIX, la Frontera del Sur de Argentina fue el escenario donde se produjeron relaciones intertnicas entre las comunidades indgenas de PampaPatagonia, las autoridades del Virreinato y los gobiernos criollos posteriores. En este espacio se produjo un intercambio de bienes entre actores sociales indgenas, militares, funcionarios, pulperos que provoc la incorporacin de nuevos objetos entre estos grupos. Se han realizado aportes que se focalizan en el anlisis de la cultura material de los grupos indgenas y militares de la Frontera del Sur; no obstante, el estudio del rol que tuvieron las bebidas alcohlicas en las relaciones inter e intragrupales, a travs de los objetos encontrados en diferentes sitios arqueolgicos, resulta ser un abordaje original. Se propone analizar el rol que tuvieron las bebidas alcohlicas en las relaciones entre los aborgenes y los militares presentes en la Frontera del Sur, as como tambin el papel que jugaron dentro de las relaciones entre cada uno de estos grupos. Se trata de un enfoque pluridisciplinar que se apoya en el anlisis de la informacin proveniente tanto del registro arqueolgico como del registro documental.
