La produccin agraria de ctricos en la Comunidad Valenciana cuenta con una consolidada tradicin exportadora, siendo Espaa el principal pas exportador a nivel mundial. Con un comercio globalizado en el que la competitividad de los productos es un factor determinante, el transporte y sus modalidades pueden tener una importante influencia a la hora de posicionar las mercancas en los mercados. En el contexto actual, desde las Administraciones se estn impulsando medidas de optimizacin y reduccin de los consumos energticos siendo el transporte uno de los principales objetivos. Por otra parte, junto a los precios, los consumidores cada vez estn ms concienciados de la importancia de factores como los ambientales al adquirir productos. Dada la vinculacin del consumo energtico y la generacin de emisiones de gases efecto invernadero que se producen con el transporte de los ctricos, se plantea una aproximacin al clculo de la absorcin/emisin de CO2 derivadas del cultivo y la exportacin segn los modos de transporte utilizados, y se valora en el caso concreto del cooperativismo citrcola de la Comunidad Valenciana.
