El presente estudio consisti en realizar una evaluacin de los sistemas de admisin al Ncleo Universitario "Rafael Rangel" de la Universidad de Los Andes, para determinar su validez predictiva en el rendimiento de los estudiantes que ingresan a la institucin. El estudio correspondi a una investigacin descriptiva e inferencial. La descriptiva se fundament en la caracterizacin de los estudiantes asignados mediante los diferentes sistemas de admisin. En el estudio inferencial se aplic la correlacin lineal y el anlisis de regresin para determinar el nivel de significacin de los sistemas alternos de admisin con que la universidad cuenta para el ingreso y permanencia de los aspirantes y para establecer los valores mnimos que permiten lograr un rendimiento universitario aceptable, respectivamente. El estudio arroj que los estudiantes que ingresan por la modalidad Alto Rendimiento se preocupan por obtener y mantener un "buen promedio". El ndice Acadmico se presenta como una variable predictora del rendimiento y con una alta correlacin con el Promedio de Notas.
