Von Bedeutung ist daher das Verhltnis von Steueraufwand zum Jahresberschuss vor Steuern (Steueraufwandquote, Konzernsteuerquote). Um die Steuerquote und den Jahresberschuss nach Steuern aussagekrftiger zu machen, kann man sich der Bilanzierung latenter Steuern bedienen. Das Ziel der Bildung latenter Steuerabgrenzungsposten ist es eine Kongruenz zwischen dem tatschlichen, effektiven Ertragssteueraufwand eines Unternehmens, der nach einer steuerlichen Erfolgsgre bemessen wird und einem dem handelrechtlichen Erfolg entsprechenden fiktiven Steueraufwand herzustellen, um einen mglichst genauen Einblick in die Steuerbelastung des Unternehmens oder des Konzerns zu ermglichen. Bisher kam den latenten Steuern in Deutschland vor allem aufgrund der bislang in 5 Abs. 1 Satz 2 EStG und 274 Abs. 3, 254 und 273 HGB verankerten umgekehrten Mageblichkeit nur ein Schattendasein' zu. Mit dem BilMoG und der damit verbundenen Abschaffung der Umkehrmageblichkeit verstrken sich die Abweichungen zwischen Handels und Steuerbilanz. Durch diese Abschaffung und die Neukonzeption der Bilanzierung latenter Steuerpositionen im Rahmen des BilMoG erfahren latente Steuern auch national eine deutliche Aufwertung. Fraglich ist hierbei neben der Ausgestaltung der Bilanzierung latenter Steuern nach dem neuen HGB auch die Abgrenzung und Unterschiede zur Bilanzierung latenter Steuerpositionen nach IFRS.
