Etudes de sciences conomiques puis de thtre, Buenos Aires et Paris. Naturalis franais, il monte partir de 1961 ses premiers spectacles exprimentaux et de recherche. De 1963 1975, il se consacre essentiellement au thtre dramatique (Calderon, O'Neill, Gombrowicz, Obaldia, Shakespeare, Ionesco, Tchekhov), et depuis la cration d'Idomne de Mozart en 1975, au thtre lyrique. Il a mont diffrents opras la Scala de Milan, au thtre d'Angers, au Festival d'Aix, au Capitole de Toulouse, l'Opra du Rhin, l'Opra de Paris, au thtre de la Monnaie Bruxelles.Alain Satg, n en 1946, ancien lve de l'Ecole normale suprieure, agrg des lettres, est assistant la facult des lettres de Rouen. Il collabore rgulirement l'AvantScne Opra et prpare une thse sur les reprsentations wagnriennes en France.
