Son roman est aussi un bel hommage au thtre et ses serviteurs, les comediens. Sans une ride, Le Capitaine Fracasse est toujours aussi sduisant. Le style de l'auteur, merveilleusement vivant, peut remporter sans problme les suffrages des jeunes lecteurs d'aujourd'hui, pourvu qu'ils ne se laissent pas impressionner par le nombre de pages: il suffit de lire les premires lignes pour se laisser convaincre de galoper avec Fracasse jusqu'au bout du roman.
