Louvrage indique la mthode adopter et quelques pistes poursuivre. Refusant la reprsentation classique dun univers contingent de substances atomises et passives, il soutient lide dun rel foncirement dynamique de capacits, de dispositions et dinteractions causales rgies par des lois, plus proche aussi de limage que nous renvoient aujourdhui les sciences de la nature.
