Quelle indpendance, quelles tudes encourager ? Que restetil de valeurs transmettre ? Comment accueillir les premires amours ? Et quand ils seront partis, ces enfants, devenus adultes et vivant au loin des vies diffrentes, que pourratil encore, Abel, que pourratil pour eux ? Bien que L'cole des pres ne relve aucunement de l'autobiographie, Herv Bazin qui a sept enfants, onze petitsenfants, sait ce dont il parle. Il anime sa faon cet Abel qui, d'abord pas trs dou, apprend la comprhension, l'indulgence et raconte sa paternit sur un ton tour tour amus, vengeur, ironique ou tendre, transfigurant des situations que nous connaissons tous.
