Die Leistungsentwicklung von Athleten wird von einem komplexen Bedingungsgefge interner und externer Faktoren beeinflusst. Ihre Handlungsfhigkeit steht in Abhngigkeit ermglichender Umfeldakteure, die ihrerseits von der Leistungsfhigkeit der Athleten abhngig sind. In diesem Zusammenhang unterliegen sie gleichermaen den strukturellen Zwngen, die sich aus den Wechselwirkungen von Independenzen und Interdependenzen des Sportsystems und dessen Umwelt ergeben. Aufgrund funktionaler Defizite der agierenden Organisationen und Institutionen sowie entsprechenden Fehlsynchronisationen "interner" Systeme mit relevanten Umweltsystemen, knnen Konfliktsituationen entstehen, welche sich negativ auf die Leistungsentwicklung der Athleten auswirken. Aus einer objektivierten Auensicht widmet sich diese Arbeit, mittels einer soziologischen Strukturanalyse, den strukturellen bzw. organisationalen Bedingungen der Sportarten Ski Alpin und Snowboard. Anhand der erarbeiteten Faktengrundlage werden in den beiden Sportarten jeweils kritische Ereignisse in den Spannungsfeldern und den strukturell bedingten Konfliktlagen, als Ursachenhinweise auf suboptimale Leistungsentwicklungen von Spitzenathleten, identifiziert.
