PopUp Pianos was a 2011 initiative of the nonprofit arts group Sing for Hope, originated by the artist Luke Jerram, for which 88 grand and upright pianosone for each key on the keyboardwere decorated by artists ranging from Isaac Mizrahi and Diane von Furstenberg to Olek to public school children. These pianos were then placed outdoors in all five of New York's boroughs for a period of two weeks. Photographer Lekha Singh's documentation of this eventthe world's largest street piano installation to datecapture the revels and the euphoria of the project.
