Que savaiton des Archives internationales de la danse (AID) ? Certains connaissaient leur revue ; d'autres, le concours chorgraphique qu'elles avaient organis en 1932 et qui avait rvl La Table verte de Kurt Jooss, ou encore leur fondateur, Rolf de Mar, mcne des Ballets sudois. Mais aucun rel travail de recherche ne leur avait t consacr. Pourtant, de 1931 1952, les AID ne cessent de promouvoir la danse sous de multiples aspects techniques, artistiques, historiques ou ethnographiques. Avec les AID, pour la premire fois en France, un projet d'envergure tait attach la mmoire et l'histoire de la danse. Ce livre tente de rendre compte de cette vaste ambition tout en redonnant vie aux archives travers une riche iconographie.
