Quatre exemples sont raconts et scruts ici par d'minents spcialistes : les grandes controverses autour de l'enfant entre Anna Freud et Melanie Klein, en 1943 ; les dialogues du Rio de la Plata, en 1972, autour du lacanisme et du kleinisme ; la discussion de 2000, entre Daniel Widlcher, Jean Laplanche et Peter Fornagy, sur l'attachement et la sexualit infantile ; le dbat de 2004 sur l'avenir de la psychanalyse, entre Daniel Widlcher et JacquesAlain Miller. La connaissance n'appartient ni un individu ni une communaut ; elle progresse par changes, discussions, recherches. Cette culture du dbat n'est pas trangre la psychanalyse ; c'est mme son avenir. Daniel Widlcher est psychiatre, psychanalyste, ancien chef de dpartement l'hpital de La PitiSalptrire et ancien prsident de l'IPA. Il a notamment publi Les Nouvelles Cartes de la psychanalyse et La Psychanalyse en dialogue. Avec la collaboration de Frdric Advenier, Alain Braconnier, Dominique Cohou, Nicole Delattre, Bertrand Hanin, Luis Maria Moix, Michel Musiol.
