Sind sie dazu berhaupt in der Lage? Ist es nicht ausreichend, ihnen die sogenannten Dinge des tglichen Lebens beizubringen? Dies sind Fragen, die heute noch heftig diskutiert werden und bei denen sich die Positionen verhrten. Doch wer kann sich anmaen, darber zu urteilen, ob ein Kind des Lesens bedarf, oder nicht. Lesen zhlt in unserer multimedialen Gesellschaft immer noch zu den grundlegendsten Kenntnissen, die eine Eingliederung in die Gesellschaft erleichtern. Man sollte also allen Menschen die Mglichkeit erffnen, diese Technik zu erlernen und somit am gesellschaftlichen Leben teilhaben zu knnen. Lesen bedeutet ein Stck Selbstndigkeit in der ansonsten vielfach fremdbestimmten Welt eines von Behinderung betroffenen Menschen. Das natrlich nicht alle Kinder mit DownSyndrom das Lesen erlernen knnen, sollte man nicht vergessen, dies darf aber keine Entschuldigung dafr sein, dass man ihnen die Mglichkeit von vornherein verwehrt. Wie eine solche Mglichkeit aussehen kann, bzw. welche Methoden des Lesenlernens man in der Arbeit mit Kindern mit DownSyndrom einsetzen kann, soll im Folgenden erlutert werden. Ich werde dazu zunchst die Behinderungsart mit Ursachen und Symptomen genauer vorstellen, besonders im Hinblick auf mgliche Auswirkungen fr das Lesenlernen. Dann werde ich im dritten Kapitel die Frage klren, welche Bedeutung das Lesen fr Kinder mit DownSyndrom hat, welche Zielsetzungen und Methoden damit verbunden sind. Hier werde ich dann auch einige konkrete Beispiel anfhren. Abschlieend werde ich versuchen, die eingangs gestellten Fragen anhand der in der Arbeit vorgestellten Anstze zu beantworten.
