Trendwende erfahren, welche sich hauptschlich in der Beschaffung vollzieht. Der Zukaufanteil produzierender Unternehmen in Relation zum Umsatz liegt bei etwa 55%, in der Automobilindustrie betrug der Anteil am Bruttoproduktionswert im Jahr 2003 sogar 73,4%. Dadurch wird deutlich, dass die Beschaffung signifikante Auswirkungen auf den Unternehmenserfolg haben kann. In einschlgiger Literatur spricht man bzgl. der Beschaffung mittlerweile von einer Art Paradigmenwechsel, der durch die Abkehr von vornehmlicher Transaktionsorientierung hin zu einer strkeren Betonung der Beziehung zwischen Hersteller und Lieferant definiert ist. Beide Parteien haben offensichtlich erkannt, dass in einer frhzeitigen Integration des Zulieferers in den Wertschpfungsprozess wesentlich grere Potenziale schlummern, als in der reinen Preisverhandlung. Aufgrund des stetig zunehmenden Wettbewerbs im Zuge der wirtschaftlichen Globalisierung, werden Unternehmen gezwungen, nachhaltige Wettbewerbsvorteile zu erzielen, die das berleben des Unternehmens sichern sollen. Durch die immer strkere Konzentration auf die eigenen Kernkompetenzen steigt entsprechend auch die Abhngigkeit von Lieferanten, ohne deren Mithilfe eigene Wettbewerbsvorteile kaum mehr zu realisieren sind. Um dieser Abhngigkeit strategisch entgegenzuwirken und die Machtverteilung zwischen beiden Parteien ausgewogen zu gestalten, muss dem Lieferantenmanagement in Einkauf und Beschaffung zuknftig offensichtlich wesentlich strkere Bedeutung beigemessen werden.
