Product Description'Life On A Magic Carpet', the adventures of a Southern girl in the 1940's in New York City and in the South Pacific on tour as a dancer with the USO. On the surface, this collection of letters presents itself as a journal of experiences, but is more than that. What this really reveals is a wonderful mother/daughter friendship, and the need to share all the big and little moments of the day in frequent letters home. Summer in New York was spent auditioning for a job as a dancer and getting the USO job. The adventure begins with the summer auditions and classes, and a July visit from Mother.About the AuthorDoris Lee Davis Pritchett was born in Durham, NC in 1926 and moved to Danville, VA in 1927. She was a Philosophy and Humanities major at Stratford College and received her Masters degree in dance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She taught dance at both Stratford College and Averett University. She has three children, three grandchildren and is the widow of Harry W. Pritchett, Jr.
