En examinant la structure de linversion complexe les auteurs sont confronts avec de divers problmes soulevs par ce phnomne linguistique uniquement franais. Rizzi & Roberts essaient de fournir une analyse structurelle base de la thorie de cas, du mouvement de ttette et dune hypothse concernant la distinction entre les propositions principales et subordonnes. Linversion complexe est caracterise par le fait que cette constructtion apparemment comprend deux sujets; un syntagme nominal qui est plac gauche du verbe fini et un pronom sujet figurant droite du verbe fini. Ainsi la prsence de deux sujets dans cette construction soulve la question comment les deux sujets peuvent tre assigns le cas nominatif silmultanment. Une autre difficult explanatoire dcoule de la question quelles sont les positions de base occupes par les deux sujets en structureD.
