Whereas Lippincott's Textbook for Nursing Assistants was written to prepare nursing assistants to work in any health care setting (hospitals, nursing homes, or home health), Lippincott's Textbook for LongTerm Care Nursing Assistants focuses exclusively on preparing nursing assistants to work in the longterm care setting (that is, nursing homes and assistedliving facilities). Because most of the people a nursing assistant is caring for in the longterm care setting will be elderly, this adaptation has a strong gerontology component. The book also strives to help the student to understand the longterm care environment, which is heavily regulated by the government.In addition to all of the features found in Carter: Lippincott's Textbook for Nursing Assistants, Lippincott's Textbook for LongTerm Care Nursing Assistants includes a "Be Smart About Surveys!" feature (to demystify the survey process for the student by raising the student's awareness of what the surveyor is looking for during a survey) and "Dementia Care Tips", which highlight special care considerations for residents with dementia.A boundin CDROM and a companion Website include a SpanishEnglish audio glossary, learning objectives, Listen and Learn, and 29 Watch and Learn video clips.
