Mittlerweile wird der Film als Kunstform neben den lteren Knsten akzeptiert und gewrdigt und kann es sich so erlauben, seine Ideen aus diesen auch ohne Rechtfertigung zu entnehmen. Besonders beliebt fr einen Rckgriff hat sich die Literatur herausgestellt. Im Kontrast zur Literatur, die erst besonders wertvoll galt, wenn nur eine auserwhlte Leserschaft sich ihrer bediente und sie als herausragende Kunst verstehen und wrdigen konnte, wollte der Film vor allem eines: so viele Zuschauer wie mglich in das Kino locken. Das Misstrauen, welches dem Film entgegengebracht wurde, schlug sich in logischer Konsequenz in den Schulen nieder. Zwar wurde schnell erkannt, dass der Film als neues Medium nicht aus dem Unterricht ausgeschlossen werden konnte, allerdings unter der Prmisse, dass die Schler durch einen kritischen Umgang vor den Inhalten des mehr und mehr zum Massenphnomen ausufernden Unterhaltungsmediums geschtzt werden mssten. Trotz viel bemhter Versuche Filme besser in den Unterricht zu integrieren, musste Peter Kern auch nach der Jahrtausendwende noch feststellen, dass es keine Filmdidaktik gibt. Und tatschlich werden Filme, auch heute noch, vor allem als Belohnung eingesetzt, um den Schlern nach beschwerlicher Textarbeit eine vermeintlich leichte Kost vorzusetzen und die zhen Klassiker in Form von Bildern zu veranschaulichen. Umso paradoxer erscheint es, betrachtet man die Lebenswelt der Schler. Gerade der tgliche Fernsehkonsum ist beinahe obligatorisch geworden und "Internet" ist kein Fremdwort mehr, sondern Alltag. Aus diesem Grund fragt die vorliegende Arbeit danach, ob sich Literaturverfilmungen fr den Deutschunterricht eignen und wenn ja, wie man sie sinnvoll integrieren kann.
