On y retrouve son personnage de lcrivain qui ne fait apparemment rien que prendre des bains dans son appartement Montral. Un matin, on lui tlphone : son pre vient de mourir. Son pre qui, dans un parallle saisissant, avait t exil dHati par le dictateur Papa Doc, comme le narrateur, des annes plus tard, lavait t par son fils, le non moins dictatorial Bb Doc. Cest loccasion pour le narrateur dun voyage initiatique rebours. Le narrateur part dabord vers le Nord, comme sil voulait paradoxalement fuir son pass, puis gagne Hati pour les funrailles de son pre. Accompagn dun neveu qui porte le mme nom que lui , il parcourt son le natale dans un priple doux et grave, rveur et plein de charme, qui le mne sur les traces de son pass, de ses origines. Mais revienton jamais chez soi ? Un roman dune facture extrmement originale : il est en vers libres, dune lecture trs fluide, rythme et toute en sduction.
