1m Auf trag der Landesanstalt ftir Rundfunk NordrheinWestfalen (LfR) in Dfisseldorf hat infas (Institut ftir angewandte Sozialwissenschaft), BonnBad Godesberg, die Mediensituation im Land NordrheinWestfalen zum Sende beginn des lokalen Rundfunks im Herbst 1990 erhoben. Diese erste Beob achtung des Medienverhaltens solI Ausgangspunkt zur Bestimmung der ge genwartigen Strukturen und der kfinftigen Veranderungen im Mediennut zungsverhalten sein, die aus der wachsenden Zahl von lokalen Horfunkund fiberregionalen Fernsehangeboten resultieren. Die vorliegende Untersu chung wurde landesweit und in fiinf ausgewlihlten Kommunikationsraumen durchgefiihrt. Mit dieser Studie liegen Dicht nur Informationen fiber die allgemeine Mediennutzung in verschiedenen Bevolkerungsgruppen NordrheinWestfa lens vor, sondern auch fiber die Akzeptanz neuer elektroDischer Medienan gebote, die sich besonders der "Nahwelt" der Nutzer bzw. Rezipienten an nehmen. Die erhobenen Grunddaten konnen schlie8lich als Ausgangsmate rial fUr weitere, auf Verbreitungsgebiete und Regionen bezogene Rezepti onsanalysen dienen. AIle Angaben zur Mediennutzung und zur Horfunkstruktur in Nordrhein Westfalen beziehen sich auf das "alte" Programmschema des WDRH6r funks. Mit der Einfiihrung des fiinften HOrfunkprogramms erfolgten Ande rungen, die die bestehenden Programme in unterschiedlicher Weise betref fen und Einflu8 auf die weitere Entwicklung der anderen Horfunkprogram me, insbesondere der lokalen Radios, baben konnen.
