The old photographs displayed on the pages of this book will fascinate and amaze many readers. Most of the photos trigger the imagination. Some cause us to deconstruct modern landscapes so we can determine just where a road ran or a building stood. Others lead us to ponder the thoughts or feelings of an individual who died before we were born. But there are some that were included simply because they are a joy to look at, offering a curious glimpse into times when life was markedly different than it is today; in some ways it was better, in some worse, but definitely unique from our point of view. In this volume, we share images of six towns: Manchester, incorporated in 1823; Hebron, incorporated in 1708; East Hartford, incorporated in 1783; Coventry, incorporated in 1712; Bolton, incorporated in 1720; and Andover, incorporated in 1848.
