Diese Arbeit mchte der These nachgehen, dass der Gedichtszyklus Poeta en Nueva York zwar surrealistische Merkmale aufweist, aber darber hinaus nicht mit dem Surrealismus in Verbindung gebracht werden kann. Dazu zeichnet Kapitel 1 die Entwicklung der spanischen Literatur aus dem Traditionalismus in die Avantgardebewegung nach. Ein besonderes Augenmerk gilt in 1.2 dem Surrealismus. Gerade aufgrund der surrealistischen Tendenzen in Poeta en Nueva York ist es wichtig Lorcas eigene Stilsuche zu betrachten (Kapitel 3), um aufzuzeigen, dass die Merkmale seiner Dichtung, die vielfach dafr verantwortlich sind sie unter den Surrealismus zu subsumieren, zwar hnlichkeiten aufweisen, doch generell unter einem anderen Gesichtspunkt zu analysieren sind. In Kapitel 4 wird ein Interpretationsansatz der Lyrik Lorcas vorgestellt. 4.1 gibt eine kurze Auslegung des Gedichtes Poema doble del lago Eden und in 4.2 erfolgt eine Analyse des Gedichtes in Hinsicht auf die Fragestellung, ob der Gedichtsband aus New York dem Surrealismus zuzurechnen ist. Seit Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts sind die literarischen Entwicklungen in Europa so vielgestaltig, dass eine Einteilung in Epochen kaum mehr sinnvoll erscheint. In Spanien erwchst aus diesem Nebeneinander der literarischen Prozesse der Generationsbegriff, mit dem eine Zuordnung der Autoren zu literarischen Strmungen zugunsten der Bndelung auf einen Zeitpunkt fallen gelassen wird. Die Darstellung einer kohrenten Entwicklung der spanischen Literatur hin zur ffnung fr die zeitgenssischen europischen Tendenzen der Avantgarde erscheint als Befreiungsversuch
