Este trabajo recoge el primer volumen de nuestra tesis doctoral titulada Contribucin al estudio de los adverbios disjuntos de valoracin afectivoemotiva en espaol actual. El conjunto de la obra se articula en dos tomos: el primero (captulos IIV) expone el objeto y mtodo del trabajo; el segundo (captulos VVIII) ofrece el anlisis especfico de los seis adverbios acotados (afortunadamente, desafortunadamente, desgraciadamente, felizmente, tristemente y lamentablemente). Este volumen primero comienza con un captulo que presenta los corpus consultados: CREA y Macrocorpus de la norma lingstica culta de las principales ciudades de Espaa y Amrica. A continuacin, se explican los fundamentos tericos y metodolgicos en los que se basa la investigacin. Los captulos tres y cuatro de este primer volumen delimitan el grupo de signos estudiados en la obra. Por su parte, en el segundo volumen se describirn las propiedades sintcticodistribucionales, las instrucciones semnticodiscursivas y los efectos pragmticos de los adverbios considerados, y se presentarn unas conclusiones finales que sintetizan las afinidades y las diferencias principales entre estos signos.
