Al calor de la ilusin autogestionaria el autor de este libro entrevist, grabadora en mano, a diversos militantes que haban dirigido colectivizaciones durante la guerra civil. Contaron su historia personal, como prlogo al relato de su actuacin de colectivizadores. Estudi Derecho en la Universidad de Barcelona y en 1936 se afili al Partido Obrero de Unificacin Marxista (POUM). Redactor en ltima Hora y La Batalla, fue encarcelado por los franquistas en 1939 y permaneci en prisin hasta 1945. Se exili en Pars donde colabor con Albert Camus en Combat. En 1947, ya en Mxico, publica diversos artculos en La Nostra Revista, Pont Blau, Excelsior, y dirigi la revista Panoramas. Fue director del Centro de Estudios y Documentacin Sociales de Mxico. De Mxico pas a Estados Unidos donde ejerci como profesor de Ciencias Polticas en la Universidad de Kansas y luego en la Kent State University, en Ohio.
