La recesin presente, la crisis energtica, la conciencia ecolgica, no anuncian el entierro de la era del consumo: estamos destinados a consumir. La tesis del Consumismo estructural parte del hecho de que nuestra sociedad no es solamente una sociedad constitucional sino, al mismo tiempo, una sociedad consumista que, como tal, ha de reproducirse, educando a su poblacin en general, y a las generaciones ms jvenes en particular, en valores propicios a la dinmica consumista. Partiendo de esta premisa surgen innumerables preguntas a las que tratamos de responder desde un punto de vista axiolgico: existen, como tal, los valores del consumismo? Son valores que slo se activan en ocasiones especficas, o son por el contrario valores que se han aventurado a la conquista de todas las dimensiones del individuo? Podemos ver el consumo como una lgica especfica, diferente a la capitalista? De existir Cmo afecta esta nueva lgica a los individuos y a sus comunidades vitales?
