Einen weiteren Bereich der Literatur, in den Das Boot aufgrund seiner speziellen Thematik fllt, stellt die sog. UBootLiteratur' dar. Die Bandbreite ist enorm. Sie reicht von historiographischen und technischwissenschaftlichen Arbeiten (maritimer Fachliteratur) bis zu populrwissenschaftlichen Bchern und erstreckt sich bis in die Niederungen' der sog. Landserhefte'. Die Bedeutung von Buchheims Boot fr diesen Literaturbereich wird ein wesentlicher Aspekt dieser Arbeit sein. Zunchst soll in einem knappen Exkurs die Frage geklrt werden, ob Das Boot als erster Teil einer angeblichen Trilogie, gewissermaen isoliert von den anderen beiden Teilen, untersucht werden kann. Dann soll kurz auf die grundstzlichen Probleme bei der Kategorisierung in Kriegsliteratur bzw. AntiKriegsliteratur eingegangen werden. In einem nchsten Schritt wird Das Boot dann mit der Kriegsprosa nach 1945 in Zusammenhang gebracht. Dazu sollen Motive, Hauptstrmungen und Kontinuitten innerhalb dieses thematischen Teilbereichs herausgestellt und der Roman auf Entsprechungen bzw. Divergenzen untersucht werden. In diesem Rahmen wird auch auf die wesentlichen Unterschiede der west und ostdeutschen Kriegsprosa in dieser durch den Systemgegensatz, den Kalten Krieg', geprgten ra eingegangen werden. Auerdem sollen die Hauptkritikpunkte, mit denen sich Das Boot immer wieder konfrontiert sieht, errtert werden. Ein weiteres Kapitel wird sich mit der Gattungsfrage des Romans beschftigen, die bislang in der Forschung noch nicht hinreichend beantwortet wurde. Der F
