Das alttestamentliche Zeugnis zum Thema "Israels Verhltnis zu Moab und Ammon" ist mannigfaltig. In vielen prophetischen Texten wird Moab und Ammon das gttliche Gericht verkndigt (u.a. Jes 1516; Jer 48,149,6). In den gleichen Texten kann jedoch auch eine eschatologische Heilsperspektive fr diese Vlker angedeutet werden (Jer 48,47; 49,6). In manchen alttestamentlichen Texten wird Israel dazu aufgefordert, sich von Moab und Ammon abzugrenzen (Dt 23,29; Esra 9,12.12; Neh 13,2327). In anderen Texten entsteht jedoch der Eindruck, dass eine solche Abgrenzung nicht immer verwirklicht worden ist (Rut). Diese Vielfalt des alttestamentlichen Zeugnisses zum Thema "Israels Verhltnis zu Moab und Ammon" wirft die Frage auf, ob es im Alten Testament widersprchliche Vorstellungen ber das Verhltnis Israels zu Moab und Ammon gibt. Stellt man diese Frage in den greren Kontext von Israels Verhltnis zu den Vlkern, dann impliziert sie, ob im Alten Testament ein Widerspruch zwischen partikularistischen und universalistischen Strmungen besteht. Es stellt sich ferner die Frage, ob sich in Israels Verhltnis zu Moab und Ammon eine historische Entwicklung feststellen lsst. Erweitert auf Israels Verhltnis zu den Vlkern weist diese Problemstellung den Weg zur Frage nach der Entstehungszeit von Universalismus und Partikularismus im Alten Testament.
