Making Social Science Matter presents an exciting new approach to social science, including theoretical argument, methodological guidelines, and examples of practical application. Why has social science failed in attempts to emulate natural science and produce normal theory? Bent Flyvbjerg argues that the strength of social science is in its rich, reflexive analysis of values and power, essential to the social and economic development of any society. Richly informed, powerfully argued, and clearly written, this book provides essential reading for all those in the social and behavioral sciences.

The content of this book really makes you think about the failures in social inquiry, but unfortunately, my used copy arrived with a cover that's torn. I hoped for better condition, but the ideas are worth pushing through!

Fantastic insights despite wear
This book has some incredible insights into social science issues. Sure, my used copy has some wear, but the knowledge it offers is invaluable. If you’re into social inquiry, don’t hesitate to grab it, just don’t expect a mint condition!

Not what I expected
I thought this would be a more current take on social inquiry, but it feels a bit outdated. The used condition didn't help, as some pages had marks. It’s still an okay read, but it didn’t meet my expectations. 3 stars for the effort!

Insightful read but a bit worn
I bought this book in used condition and it did have some noticeable wear. The insights into social inquiry are pretty valuable, but I wish the previous owner had taken better care of it. Still a good pick for anyone interested in social science debates!

Great content, minor flaws
The ideas in this book are fantastic and really provoke thought about social sciences. Unfortunately, I received the copy with a few pages dog-eared. It doesn’t ruin the experience but was a bit disappointing. Still worth a read!
