Historical survey that examines the cartography known or available to the English colonists of 15841587 as well as that which they produced during their explorations. Includes twentyeight map plates printed on high quality coated paper, the authors notes, and a useful appendix that lists sixteenthcentury names for the southeastern North American coast and correlates them with modern names and landmarks.

The book had some cool insights into 16th-century cartography, but I felt it skimmed over some important details about the Roanoke voyages. It’s a good starting point, but I wished for more depth in the storytelling. Still worth a read!

Not What I Expected
I was really excited about this book, but I found it hard to get into. The writing felt a little dry at times, and I didn’t connect with the material. The maps are nice, but I was hoping for a more engaging narrative.

Perfect for History Buffs
If you're interested in the early American history and cartography, this book is a must-have! The illustrations are colorful and help bring the text to life. I found myself flipping through the maps more than once!

Detailed Maps, Great for Research
As a graduate student studying history, this book was very helpful for my research on early exploration. The maps are detailed, and the contextual information around the Roanoke voyages was thoroughly intriguing. Definitely recommend it for anyone in academia!

A Few Issues with Condition
The book itself is interesting, but it arrived with a dented cover, which was a bit disappointing. It’s still readable, and the content is good, but I expected better packaging during shipping. Just a heads up!
