Les livres que Duras publie entre sa soixantime et sa soixantedixime anne (tome III) sont souvent brefs, moins qu ils ne prennent, comme Outside et Les Yeux verts, la forme de recueils. Ils marquent un dsir de renouvellement, et tous ne touchent pas immdiatement le public, mais il est aujourd hui vident que Le Navire Night, L't 80, Savannah Bay ou La Maladie de la mort sont des jalons majeurs de l uvre. En 1984, enfin, L Amant connat un triomphe critique et commercial inou. Le statut littraire et public de Duras bascule. Les annes 19741984 sont aussi une dcennie cinmatographique. Les films Le Camion, Baxter, Vra Baxter, Le Navire Night, les deux Aurlia Steiner, etc. dialoguent avec les livres qui leur correspondent et inflchissent notre faon de lire Duras.
