The text offers seven independent chapters with sufficient depth of coverage in each chapter to allow an instructor to select any three of four chapters for a semesterlong course. The seven chapters offer both flexibility of choice fot the one quarter or one semester course, and enough material for a yaerlong course if desired.The text is written for the student. THe goal was not to be as concise as possible, but rather as clear as possible. The examples and explanations are written so that all students coule understand the material. Several years of classroom testing has helped refine and add further clarity to the examples and explanations.THere are two themes for the Problem solving and Estimation. Two sections introduce students to these themes, which are then revisited and reinforced throughout the text. Of course, some topics lend themselves to estimate or problem solving better than others. For example, estimation is much more apparnet in the Finance chapter than in the Logic chapter. On the other hand, Logic is at the heart of the problem solving.
