Das Buch ist so abgefaBt, daB es Diskussionsgrundlage eines Seminars sein kann. Die Verfasser intendieren keine umfassende oder gar abgerundete Darstellung des schwie rigen Themas 'Mathematik Lemen' und entwickeln keine Theorie, die auf mehr oder weniger eng umgrenzten mathematischen Aufgaben als Testrnaterial oder auf einem psychologischen Modell beruht. Vielmehr geht es urn die Akzentuierung und Eingrenzung von 'Problemen' beim 'Mathematik Lemen' sowie urn die Erarbeitung von 'Moglich keiten' zu ihrer Losung. Diese Vorschlage sind unmittelbar in die Praxis umsetzbar und auf andere mathematische Gebiete und Lernstufen sinngemliB tibertragbar. Die Verfasser stimmen in dieser Auffassung tiberein. Es ist aber nicht der Versuch untemommen, die Beitrage zu harmonisieren. Denn gerade die Vielschichtigkeit, ja Heterogenitlit, der Anslitze spiegelt die Schwierigkeit der Thematik und erMfnet Zuglinge, die anderenfalls verdeckt werden konnten. Die Arbeiten enthalten sehr viel Beispielmaterial, das tiber wiegend den ersten Semestem des Hochschulstudiums, aber auch dem Mathematik unterricht aller Schulstufen entnommen ist. Die Verfasser meinen, daB dieser praxis orientierte Weg sich allein schon deswegen rechtfertigt, weil die bisherigen oft sehr theoretischen Abhandlungen tiber das Thema nicht die gewiinschten Auswirkungen auf das Lemen von Mathematik hatten.
