About the Author Lena Christ, 1881 als lediges Kind im oberbayerischen Glonn geboren, hatte ein schweres Leben, dem sie 1920 im Alter von 39 Jahren in Mnchen selbst ein Ende setzte. Ihr grandioses schriftstellerisches Talent wurde nur zufllig entdeckt und 1912 machte die Autodidaktin mit ihren schonungslosen autobiografischen Erinnerungen einer berflssigen Furore. Im knappen Zeitraum von acht Jahren folgten: Lausdirndlgeschichten (1913), Mathias Bichler (1914), Rumplhanni (1916), Bauern. Bayerische Geschichten (1919) und Madam Burin (1920).
