[...] Max Beckmanns tatschliches Verhltnis zur Neuen Sachlichkeit kann also nur ber eine stilistische Analyse ermittelt werden. Fr eine Analyse wird eine Bildgattung bentigt, in der er in regelmigem Abstand malt, sodass dominante Komponenten seines Malstils und eine eventuelle kontinuierliche oder sprunghafte Entwicklung aufgezeigt werden knnen. Zwei Gattungen erfllen whrend der Frankfurter Zeit diese Anforderungen: die Gattung des Portrts und die Gattung der Landschaftsmalerei. Fr die Landschaftsmalerei spricht zum einen, dass Beckmann wie andere Schaffensperioden zeigen besonders im Vorfeld einer Stilkonsolidierung bevorzugt in dieser Gattung malt. Zum anderen eignet sich die stilistische Raumanalyse einer Landschaftsdarstellung besonders zum Vergleich mit den Stilkriterien der Malerei der Neuen Sachlichkeit. Von Franz Roh bis zu den neuesten Untersuchungen in den neunziger Jahren wird die Behandlung des Raumes als ein fundamentales stilistisches Kriterium dieser Richtung hervorgehoben. Die vorliegende Arbeit analysiert an ausgewhlten Landschaftsbildern der Frankfurter Zeit Beckmanns Motive und Stil und seine motivischen und stilistischen Vorbilder. Nach der stilistischen Analyse werden die aufgezeigten Komponenten aus Beckmanns Bildern mit den von Franz Roh 1925 erstellten Stilkriterien und den Ausfhrungen von Christoph Vgele zum neusachlichen Bildraum auf bereinstimmungen hin untersucht.
