Es wird gezeigt, bieten Frischs USAReisen ihm Erzhlstoff, der sich in den drei Romanen Stiller, Homo faber und Mein Name sei Gantenbein entldt, die daher als RomanTrilogie verstanden werden knnen. Es ist sogar anzunehmen, dass seine AmerikaErlebnisse berhaupt erst Auslser seines RomanErzhlens waren, die wie ein Brennglas lngst angelegte Themen bndeln. Also gilt es herauszufinden, welchen Einfluss diese AmerikaErfahrungen auf seine literarische Produktion hatten und inwieweit sie verantwortlich fr die drei Romane sind, die zwischen 1954 und1964 entstanden Die Arbeit verfhrt mehrgleisig. Whrend ein Beweis der Trilogie gefhrt wird, soll es auch darum gehen, Parallelen zu frheren Arbeiten aufzuzeigen und historische Zusammenhnge darzustellen, um die Bedeutung Amerikas fr Frisch deutlich werden zu lassen. Darber hinaus stellt sich die Frage, was er eigentlich nach seinen AmerikaErlebnissen erzhlte, welche Fragen diese ReiseErfahrungen fr ihn aufwarfen. Und was vernderte sich in Frischs Werk im Gegensatz zu frheren Themen, deren Vorluferfunktion fr die drei spteren Romane gezeigt werden muss.
