Whrend man in den siebziger Jahren bei der Untersuchung kognitiver Ef fekte der Medien noch an einer Auseinandersetzung mit dieser Hypothese kaum vorbeikam, sind heute solche Studien ohnejeglichen Hinweis auf"Gaps" an der Tagesordnung (zoB. CULBERTSON/STEMPEL, 1986; CHAFFEE/SCHLEU DER, 1986). Gab es inderEnqueteKommission "Neue Informations und Korn rnunikationstechniken" 1983 noch einen parteipolitischen Streit um die "Erwei terung der Wissenskluft" (ZWISCHENBERICHT, 1983: 119), so spielt dieses Stichwort in der aktuellen politischen Diskussion ber die Vernderungder Me dienlandschaft in der Bundesrepublik so gut wie keine Rolle mehr.
