Die Notwendigkeit der Medienerziehung bei Kindern und Jugendlichen ist angesichts der immer rascher fortschreitenden Mediatisierung unserer Gesellschaft unbestritten. Im Anschluss an die Darstellung theoretischer Grundlagen schulischer Medienerziehung belegt die Arbeit, dass erschwerte Lebensbedingungen, durch die das Dasein von Schlerinnen und Schlern in der Schule zur individuellen Lernfrderung (Frderschule) gekennzeichnet ist, vielfach zu problematischem Medienverhalten fhren. Deshalb haben Kinder und Jugendliche mit Lernbehinderungen bzw. mit sonderpdagogischem Frderbedarf spezifisch und umfangreich Medienkompetenz zu entwickeln. Wie das behindertendidaktisch geschehen kann, zeigt das Buch u.a. anhand zahlreicher Hinweise zu administrativen Empfehlungen und Vorschriften (z.B. Lehrplan) sowie am Beispiel aktiver Videoarbeit auf. Mit der Darstellung von Projektbeispielen dieser produktivpraktischen Methode der Medienerziehung flieen langjhrige Erfahrungen des Verfassers aus der Unterrichtspraxis der Frderschule in die Arbeit ein.
