Die zunehmende Kommerzialisierung des Mediensystems, soziokulturelle Vernderungen, Mngel staatlicher Regulierung und technische Entwicklungen erzwingen eine Anpassung der Ziele und Instrumente der Regulierung des Rundfunks. Aus diesem Anlass beschftigt sich die vorliegende Arbeit mit dem britischen Mediensystem nach der Medienreform im Jahr 2003. Eine 2003 neu geschaffene Aufsichtsbehrde, die durch einen Praxisbezug und eine konomische Gesamtausrichtung von sich Reden macht, reguliert den britischen Medienmarkt seitdem zurckhaltend und vertraut auf sich selbstregulierende Marktkrfte. Die Regulierungsform der Selbst bzw. Koregulierung wurde durch diese Reform in Grobritannien ins Leben gerufen. Die Selbst und Koregulierung scheint in rundfunkpolitische Diskussion zu einem Modewort zu avancieren. Medienunternehmen erhoffen sich einen Rckzug des Staates. Doch wie steht es um die Wirkung und die Durchsetzbarkeit von selbst auferlegter Regeln durch die Medien? In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll dies errtert und bewertet werden. Die neue Aufsichtsbehrde und der Ansatz der Selbstregulierung sind ein Teil der Medienreform aus 2003. Der Focus der Arbeit und die Forschungsfrage richten sich an die Regulierungsaufsicht und dessen medieninhaltliche Regulierung in Form von Selbstregulierung. Das Forschungsinteresse der vorliegenden Hausarbeit richtet sich an eine Bewertung dieses reformierten Kommunikationssektors und bildet mit einer Diskussion um den Erfolg von Selbst und Koregulierung den Hauptteil.
