Kultur' spiegelt sich aus der hier gewhlten Perspektive sowohl in Praktiken und Ritualen des alltglichen Lebens wieder, als auch in den knstlerischen Erzeugnissen von Malern, Autoren, Musikern und auch Regisseuren. Kulturwissenschaft wird in dieser Arbeit daher vor allem als eine interpretierende Auseinandersetzung mit Fragen von Sinn und Bedeutung menschlichen Handelns bzw. von Produkten menschlichen Handelns betrachtet. Die Arbeit schliet damit an Clifford Geertz an, der mit Max Weber meint, dass der Mensch ein Wesen ist, das in selbstgesponnene Bedeutungsgewebe verstrickt ist, wobei ich Kultur als dieses Gewebe ansehe. Ihre Untersuchung ist daher keine experimentelle Wissenschaft, die nach Gesetzen sucht, sondern eine interpretierende, die nach Bedeutungen sucht."
