Doch fr diejenigen Leserinnen und Leser, die sich fr den nicht zuletzt fr das Sptwerk Cassirers eminent wichtigen biographischen Hintergrund interessieren, bleiben die Erinnerungen Toni Cassirers, in denen sie ein Bild des groen Gelehrten in seinem privaten wie wissenschaftlichen Umfeld zeichnet, die einzige Quelle. Toni Cassirer hat ihr Typoskript unter dem Titel "Aus meinem Leben mit Ernst Cassirer" zunchst im privaten Rahmen verteilt; einer Verffentlichung in Deutschland hatte sie nicht zugestimmt. Der Enkel Peter Cassirer gibt in einer Vorbemerkung zur vorliegenden Ausgabe ber die Grnde Auskunft, die dennoch zur Erstverffentlichung gefhrt haben. "Mein Leben mit Ernst Cassirer" erschien 1981 mit einigen Krzungen. Diese Ausgabe bietet erstmals den vollstndigen Text des 1948 fertiggestellten Typoskriptes. Beigegeben ist eine bersicht ber smtliche Schriften Ernst Cassirers.
