El trabajo se desarroll en el consultorio 20 de Zaza del Medio, en la etapa comprendida entre julio de 2011 y julio de 2012 con una muestra de 78 ancianos portadores del sndrome metablico. Este sndrome es una asociacin de alteraciones clnicas y metablicas, entre las que destaca la obesidad central o abdominal, la hipertensin arterial, el aumento de la glucemia y los trastornos en los niveles de lpidos, aumentando hasta cinco veces el riesgo cardiovascular de estos pacientes, por lo que cada da se hace necesario educar a las personas en esta direccin, aspecto ste, en el que en correspondencia con la revisin bibliogrfica realizada y el estudio emprico llevado a cabo, se aprecian algunos vacos. El estudio establece en su diseo un sistema de talleres para la educacin teraputica de las personas con esta afeccin. En la investigacin se emplearon mtodos como el enfoque de sistema; la observacin cientfica; la encuesta; y el criterio de expertos, entre otros. El resultado cientfico elaborado fue avalado por los expertos, los que consideraron que es pertinente, factible y aplicable para la educacin teraputica de los ancianos portadores del sndrome metablico.
