The lead role in these books is actually Mels own imaginary friend. Jake is the heavily muscled mercenary that follows Melville everywhere in his life, attacking self esteem, and just making life miserable. Life is a very earth tone type of prospect for Mel until he stumbles into Mary. But when Melville fails miserably to attract the fair ladys attentions, with personality temporarily on loan from Jake, yet another imaginary friend appears in his life, this one is the female mercenary, Andy. Her mission in life is one hundred and eighty degrees from Jakes, and she sets out to give Mel a hand with his efforts to win Marys heart. Andys big idea? Youll have to read the book to find out.
