Die immer wieder aktualisierbaren Geschichten (exempla maiorum) werden als integrale Bestandteile einer besonderen Erinnerungskultur aufgefaat, die gleichzeitig die gesamte Geschichte der res publica als Kontinuum zu gestalten vermochte.
