La presente obra plantea al Mercado de Agua en Venezuela desde la perspectiva de la Economa Industrial, desarrollando en un primer captulo los modelos tericos aplicados a los mercados y su regulacin, basados en una revisin terica y sus aplicaciones, expresando en un apartado el caso especfico del recurso agua en Venezuela. En un segundo captulo se describe la situacin actual, la caracterizacin y el funcionamiento administrativo y operativo de las hidrolgicas venezolanas, considerando las leyes y las normas que regulan al sector y describiendo el proceso productivo y la funcin de produccin del recurso. En el tercer captulo se presentan algunas reflexiones sobre la problemtica del sector bajo la perspectiva planteada por la Constitucin Nacional (1999), la Ley de Aguas (2007)y la Ley Orgnica para la Prestacin del Servicio de Agua Potable y Saneamiento (2001), resaltando la participacin ciudadana bajo la figura de las Mesas Tcnicas de Agua.
